As the year wraps up, we’re looking back at the design moments that defined 2025 wedding stationery. Couples this year leaned into personalization, meaningful materials, and modern design, resulting in some of our favorite invitation suites yet.
With so many engagements happening over the holidays (we love seeing all the happy announcements!), this time of year is also when many couples start planning their weddings. Here are some of the trends that shaped the year and the ones we’re excited to carry into 2026.

Texture Took The Lead
2025 was all about tactile materials. Handmade papers, vellum layers, silk ribbon, wood detailing, and embossing added depth and dimension to even the simplest suites. Couples wanted invitations that felt substantial, different, and intentionally curated. The kind of pieces guests would treasure and keep. We also saw layering become more popular, with inserts, wraps, and overlays creating a subtle sense of drama and anticipation.

Our suites always feature many layered elements and tasteful textures, but we noticed that these types of invitation suites have become increasingly popular across all levels of weddings this year. Texture has a way of making a paper suite feel like a keepsake, and this year, it truly took center stage - which we loved.
Editorial Typography
Typography was one of the most exciting areas of experimentation in 2025. Clean serifs, minimal sans serifs, and unexpected type pairings gave invitations a refined, editorial feel. Hand-lettered calligraphy didn’t disappear, but it was used more strategically. Calligraphy became more desired for names, small accents, or envelope details that added personality without overpowering the layout. The balance of modern type and handcrafted script created suites that felt polished, thoughtful, and uniquely tailored to each couple. It was a trend that proved typography alone can tell a story.
Color-Forward Palettes

While neutrals remain timeless, 2025 couples were drawn to richer, more expressive color palettes. Sage, stone, dusty blue, terracotta, olive, and even black were in high demand. Monochromatic suites, using multiple tones of the same color across paper, ink, and envelopes, created a cohesive and elevated aesthetic. In many cases, bold colors became a tool for storytelling, helping to set the mood and reflect the wedding’s personality, from romantic garden celebrations to bold city soirées. The variety we saw this year reminded us that color is absolutely not an afterthought; it’s an integral part of the design.
Bespoke Artwork & Custom Maps

Personalization continued to define luxury in 2025, and we don’t see that changing in 2026. Couples invested in custom venue illustrations, watercolor sketches, wedding logos, meaningful icons, and hand-drawn maps. These elements added a sense of place and storytelling to every suite. Maps weren’t just practical. They were artful, guiding guests while also serving as a memorable keepsake. Each illustration brought a layer of intimacy and creativity, making every invitation feel like it was crafted just for that couple.
We always love adding elements like these, and we typically do in every suite. But to see this come to the forefront of the industry this year was exciting.
Elevated Minimalism

Minimalist suites remained a strong choice, but 2025 gave them a more intentional, high-design twist. Tone-on-tone palettes, blind embossing, letterpress textures, and clean layouts allowed premium materials to shine. These understated suites proved that minimalism doesn’t mean simple. It means intentionality and luxury in every choice, from paper to ink to layout.
Lucky Onion Tip: Think about your entire wedding day or weekend when designing your suites. We bring each color, font, texture, and motif from the suite into the day-of stationery. Your guests will see the same designs that they saw in their save the dates and invitations in reimagined, yet familiar ways. This is why our initial design planning is so important, because it sets the tone for everything to come.
Looking Ahead to 2026
If there’s one theme that defined 2025, it was personalization. Couples wanted stationery that felt unique to them, meaningful to their story, and beautifully crafted for their specific wedding day. As we move into 2026, we’re excited to continue creating designs that tell each couple’s story in a way that feels fresh, thoughtful, and timeless.
